Rainbow began its remarkable journey in 2009 in Yangzhou, China.

Rainbow began its remarkable journey in 2009 in Yangzhou, China. The company started life with a team of just two people, partnering with a local factory owner to complete our first, and what was at the time a very large and challenging 100,000 piece order of plush toys.

Since then, we have gone from strength to strength, transitioning from entrusting production with external contractors to undergoing complete vertical integration of all production processes, including injection, electronic assembly and plush production; all of which are now housed within our own factories. We are now a multinational company, with a staff of over 400, including our production workers in Yangzhou and in Hunan province, and we continue to grow and expand year on year.

Before Rainbow came into existence in 2009, our company’s founders had been working for an entrepreneur attempting to set up a company which could gain a foothold in the Chinese plush toy market. Responsible for setting up the product development team, connecting with suppliers and helping to raise the majority of the company’s start-up capital, we were the driving force for the early development of the company.

However under an ownership that did not share our values and had proven itself to be unreliable, we were compelled to depart from the company, resulting in the end of a relationship which had performed strongly.

From crisis comes opportunity

While both dejected and facing financially challenging circumstances, we were motivated to succeed and confident in our capabilities, and so we decided to go it alone and set up our new company, Rainbow. 

When starting our company, because of our core values and due to our prior experience, we believed that one’s words and deeds should be consistent, and that trust in business, just as in life, is both crucial for long-term success and is a moral imperative. 

In fact, trust was the main basis for the naming of our company. We took inspiration from the story of the Great Flood, in which God had made a promise, a covenant, that he would never flood the world again. God declared that the rainbow was the symbol of this covenant – it was thus a symbol of trust.

We were determined to create a company that was honest and could be trusted, choosing the name “Rainbow” to represent this commitment. Whether in our cooperation with partners, customers, or with staff, we continually strive to hold true to honesty and trust. We believe this has been the main key to our success.

Since our inception, we have worked in partnership with some of the world’s top brands, including Disney, Universal and Nickelodeon. Working with licensees of such well-known brands, we have succeeded in developing profitable, high-selling products, sold in key markets in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Within these markets, our products have been sold through prestigious and renowned large-scale chain stores, such as Walmart, Target, Auchan and Carrefour. We are proud of Rainbow’s achievements, and are driven to achieve further success, and to bring more happiness to our customers – old and young – all around the world.
